Luis Gutiérrez, wine critic and Spanish wine taster for Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, a prestigious, specialised publication, rates two of the bodega’s wines.
Abadal Mandó 2021 scored 91 points. About the wine, he points out, “It is made with a variety that started to recover in 2004. Aged in amphora as well as in oak barrels for one year, it has an expressive nose of dry flowers and sweet spices. Light and fresh”.
For its part, Abadal Arboset 2019 scored 92 points. This wine, of which only 1,824 bottles have been produced, the critic remarks, “It bears the name of the vineyard where the ancestral varieties that make up the wine come from: Mandó, Picapoll and Sumoll, and others, including Punxó Fort, Cap Pelat, Cua de Moltó, Malvasia de Manresa, Pansera, Fumat and Cap Negre. All these varieties are fermented together in the dry stone vat in the middle of the vineyard”. Referring to the wine style, he points out, “It has a characterful nose, with notes of wild berries, flowers and herbs”.
