Abadal stands out in tasting sessions at Barcelona Wine Week, the benchmark event for Spanish wine

February kicked off the sector’s main international trade fairs. The first: Barcelona Wine Week.

The fourth edition of this reference event for Spanish wine took place from 3rd to 5th February. The Montjuïc exhibition centre in Barcelona brought together 952 wineries from 73 producing areas, welcoming over 21,000 visitors.

During BWW, Abadal participated in two presentations as part of the fair activities programme. One of them, Ancient vats, vinifying history, was a roundtable-tasting presenting wines made in a unique way. During the event, Miquel Palau, the winery’s winemaker, presented the Abadal Mandó and Abadal Arboset wines. He was joined by winemakers Raül Bobet (Castell d’Encús) and Alfredo Maestro (Bodega Alfredo Maestro), with journalist Ruth Troyano as a moderator. The other presentation, Great Catalan wines vinified in local tools, was a tasting led by sommelier Ferran Centelles. One of the wines that attendees were able to taste was Abadal Mandó.

Abadal Arboset wine was also featured in the Wine Tasting Journey area, which this year revolved around the theme of Singular Vessels, recovering to innovate. This self-guided tasting area included 70 reference wines, chosen by an expert committee.
