Two Spanish wines manufactured with Merlot grapes, Abadal Cinc being one of them, among the most outstanding in the international contest The Global Merlot Masters.
The results of The Global Merlot Masters contest are included in an article in The Drinks Business magazine (UK) by the MW Patrick Schmitt, in which, he highlights, regarding this variety, that he likes fresh and humid clay soils, from mainly warm areas, and that it is a type of grape that responds well to ageing.
From Abadal Cinc they specifically highlight the bouquet of red fruit accentuated with notes of vanilla. Fruit balanced by a fresh acidity and some tannins that allow the wine to be well defined and have a good length.
Global Wine Masters Competitions began in 2013 to promote the best wines in the world. With a different approach, each tasting identifies the best examples of their category of grape, among wines from all over the world and price range. The tastings are blind tastings -only with the reference of the price range and the type of grape- carried out by high status judges such as Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and senior buyers.
