Abadal Arboset: 97 points and among the best red wines of Catalonia, according to Tim Atkin MW

Tim Atkin MW and his collaborator Fintan Kerr have just presented their second Special Report on Catalan Wines 2025.

Among the most highly rated wines is Abadal Arboset 2021, listed in the “Best Red” category and awarded 97 points. They mention tasting it for the first time with the 2019 vintage and that, with this 2021 release, “this year they have absolutely nailed it; this is like drinking the essence of a mountain forest. Berry fruits, wild flowers, orange peel and wet stones. Explosively aromatic and so well defined. A stunning bottle of wine”.

Additionally, the Abadal Sagristia 13-12 ranci wine has also been included in the “Best Fortified” category, getting 96 points. It is described as “a huge wine in every sense”  with aromas of “dried oranges, salted caramel, dried white flowers, and toasted nuts. Briny and mouth-watering”.

Other Abadal wines selected in the report are Abadal Nuat (94 points), Dolç de Foc Flama (93 points), Abadal Picapoll and Abadal Mandó (both with 92 points).
